Oberstown celebrated its first year as an integrated campus with an on-site barbecue for staff and young people. Held on Wednesday, July 5, it was the first time such an event was held on the campus. Young people and staff mingled, enjoying the sunshine, live music, and excellent food, including pig on a spit. The music was a great hit, with some of the young people taking the mic – and there was even a spot of waltzing on the tarmac, too. A birthday cake, baked in the Oberstown kitchen, was cut by the Director of the campus Pat Bergin, assisted by one of the youngest residents currently present on the campus. Mr Bergin thanked the staff members who organised the barbecue. “It was great to see everyone out mixing and having a good time,” Mr Bergin said. “New traditions for the campus are what will help us grow together.”
